Chapter One

Opened by Fiona Carruthers in 2006, Chapter One has recently located to larger premises on the outskirts of Hamilton. Fiona is committed to delivering excellence in early years care and education and strives to become Bermuda’s leading early years provider. She believes strongly in supporting children to achieve, thrive and progress.

The new location has bright and spacious rooms which provide a calm and joyful atmosphere, equipped with child height furnishings and high-quality toys. Two gardens allow children to explore and play.

Our committed, experienced, and qualified nursery team actively encourage children in their play and exploration, supporting their natural curiosity and thirst for learning. The dedicated staff will support the learning needs and interests of your child, ensuring that they are fully supported to reach their full potential.

Chapter One - Facilities

In the main house we have 4 spacious classrooms that have been recently upgraded to meet the changing needs of your growing child. All rooms are on the ground floor where children can easily access the garden. The ‘wendy house’, located in the top garden, currently accommodates the pre-school class. Rooms are organized so children can manage their own environment. Children have opportunities to play with small world, mark making, craft, role play, construction, and mathematical toys.

Throughout the child’s time at Chapter One, they will be prepared for school by developing skills such as building relationships with peers, managing their own self-care, and developing their confidence to communicate.

Once Upon a Time Nursery School recognizes the benefits of the children being outdoors. The new location allows children the freedom of being outdoors in the fresh air, allowing time to learn and play whilst developing their physical and mental health. We provide daily opportunities to play outdoors for all our children – wellies are a must!
