Chapter Two is a popular and oversubscribed Nursery.
Fiona Carruthers has successfully transformed the Nursery into a high quality early years setting with a focus on a safe and stimulating learning environment.
Once Upon a Time employs dedicated, highly qualified and experienced staff who are passionate about young children and their learning.
Chapter Two Facilities
Chapter Two is located on the outskirts of Hamilton at 16-18 Woodbourne Avenue. There are two buildings adjacent to each other with an adjoining outside play area. There are two drop off/pick up zones and an additional, longer drop off zone at the nearby Chubb building.
The Woodbourne building contains a kitchen, staff room, office and four rooms; two for each class (Navigators and Explorers). These rooms are also used for nap times providing the younger children with a secure and familiar place in which to rest.
The Glenwood building provides two large classrooms with purpose built bathrooms and kitchens, one upstairs (Discoverers) and one down (Navigators). The downstairs classroom has a covered outside area which often doubles as an outside classroom.
Chapter Two has a large outside area which is secure and artificially turfed. Outside consists of age appropriate climbing equipment for gross motor development and balls, chalking and construction for fine motor development. Other areas are available for quiet reading, mark making and role play. The planting area is currently being developed by the children as a place to grow fresh vegetables and flowers!
The school has a secure electronic key system. You must ring a bell to enter the premises. The buildings are monitored daily by Chubb security.

We encourage and promote learning through playing, exploration, talking, experimenting and active learning. We aim to have confident, independent, sociable children with a sound knowledge of the world around them. Each classroom contains age appropriate resources and is organized to encourage hands on learning across various areas or ‘centres’ of learning. We are fortunate to have a secure outdoor space in which children can climb, run and play.
The daily routine is similar for both buildings. The Explorers and Navigators follow the same daily routine and the Discoverers and Voyagers too. These include circle time, self chosen and adult led play, snack and lunchtimes, nap time (except for pre-school students) story and rhyme time and outdoor play (weather dependent!) both morning and afternoon.
In addition to our daily routines we have a full calendar of events throughout the year. These include our annual sports day, trips around the island and celebrating special events such as our Easter and Halloween fun days. We also support local charity events and invite children to participate in CrossFit, gymnastics and swimming classes.
